Departure from Lisbon via 25 de Abril Bridge, and a magnificent drive through the Alentejo countryside with its peculiar landscape made up of cork farms, olive orchards and endless vineyards.

Free time in Évora - Your visit begins in the city centre, in Giraldo Square. The square was named after Geraldo Geraldes o Sem-Pavor, or 'Gerald the Fearless' who seized the city from the Moors in the 12th century. You'll find plenty of charming shops, cafes, and restaurants here, as well as stunning Portuguese architectural icons.

We then move on to the 'Templo de Diana', (Diana’s Temple). a well-preserved temple that dates back to the 1st or 2nd century AD. This temple is one of the few remaining examples of Roman architecture in Portugal, and it offers a fascinating glimpse into the country's history.

Not far from here, in Évora, you’ll visit the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Assumption, a romantic 13th century, gothic building.

After lunch, the tour continues to the 'Igreja São Francisco de Assis' (the church of St Francis of Assisi) where you’ll visit 'Capela dos Ossos' (the Chapel of Bones). The famous inscription at the entrance 'Nós ossos que aqui estamos pelos vossos esperamos' ('We bones that are here, await yours') is conveying a message of life being transitory. This Chapel, a unique and somewhat eerie chapel is decorated with the bones of more than 5,000 exhumed bodies, bears witness to the ingenuity and creativity of Évora's residents and is sure to leave a lasting impression on visitors.

Next, before heading back, we’ll go on to sample local wines at an outlet run by an emblematic winery where you’ll be able to get a taste of some of the best wines produced in the region.

Overall, Évora is a beautiful and historic city that is well worth a visit. With its charming streets, fascinating museums, and unique attractions, it is the perfect destination for a day trip from Lisbon.
